The Band
Rachel Kenney
LEAD Vocals
In 2008 I moved to MN from a small town in Maine. I now live in SW Minneapolis with my fiancé Jon and our 3 amazing kiddos and our Boxer pup and 3 (yes, 3!) cats. I love Soul/R&B/Neo Soul but I also adore Indie/Alt Rock, Oldies and Indie Folk.
Singing since before I can remember, my first memories of music are listening to Mom’s LPs in the 80s; Sade, Phoebe Snow, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, you get the idea. From about 6 on I was playing whatever tapes I could get my hands on in my Fisher Price tape player; Dirty Dancing, Tracy Chapman, Bette Midler, Harry Belafonte and my favorite, The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.
And then proverbial crickets until I met Jon in 2014, when we started to build on our love of music together. Ain’t love grand?
Jon Offerdahl
LEAD Vocals / percussion
I’ve loved singing for as long as I can remember and I’m so excited to finally be in a band with the love of my life! My parents did force me to be in church choir, and school choir which I wasn’t a huge fan of, but looking back now I’m glad I did it. I am also a self taught hand percussionist. I played trombone in high school but always regretted not doing the drums instead. I pretty much love all kinds of music…basically anything but country (except for old school country, like Johnny Cash of course). My main genre tends to lean more towards 90’s Rock, but I really do love all types of music. To name a few favorites: The Beatles, Sublime, Pearl Jam & The Head and the Heart, so clearly all over the place!. Similar to Rachel, I had a Fisher Price cassette player I would carry around, but I typically played Twisted Sister and Guns-n-Roses in it!
Zach Rausch
Bass
Hey I'm Zach. My favorite number is 5 and my favorite color is orange, so I prefer orange 5 string basses.
My favorite bands are Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Porcupine Tree.
I love playing music with good spirited people, such as those listed on this page.

Phil Miller
lead guitar/Banjo/mandolin
Growing up a preacher’s kid near Pittsburgh, PA, music has always been a big part of my life. I took piano lessons and played trombone while through high school, and I started playing guitar while in college. In addition to playing, I've been heavily involved in the production side as well. I'm still a nerd at heart, so I love figuring out how sounds are created, how stuff works, and getting all the parts and pieces to work together.
I moved to Minneapolis about 15 years ago, and since then have been in a number of different bands and have had the good fortune to play and record with some great musicians. I'm into all sorts of music and have played in diverse bands ranging from Blues, Jazz, Rock, Folk, Funk and even Electronica. My biggest musical influences include The Edge, George Benson, Nels Cline and Peter Buck.
Matt Larson
lead guitar II
Exploring music as a teenaer after stumbling upon a few old records I learned to play whatever instrument I could get my hands on. My main instrument is guitar, I play both lead and rhythm, electric and acoustic. I also play keys/piano, drums and a little mandolin and banjo. I have been playing professionally across multiple bands for the last 15 years before joining HFTH.
I have eclectic tastes which shape my musical styling, from classic rock, to grunge and punk to jam band to bluegrass. Growing up in the 90s the music of that era hold a special place alongside classic rock, funk and blues. I stumbled into the jam band scene during my late teens and started building upon my love of the dead with bands like Ween, Kellar Williams and Widespread Panic. I like to create music that incorporates influences across many genres to fit the vibe of the gig and the feel of the song.
Jason Brown
drums
First instrument: trombone, back in my Iowa State marching band days. First drumsticks: 2005, when my church needed a drummer and I finally had the courage (thanks to a left-handed friend) to flip the kit and give it a try. Since then I’ve stuck with drums because rhythm grounds me, connects people, and reminds me that music is bigger than just sound. Influences: 90s alt rock, MuteMath, Barenaked Ladies. Real life: five kids, one wife, two wheels (cycling), and a Vikings fandom stuck between despair and blind optimism.
